Though we did not know you and Christal very well, we remember fondly sharing some lovely evening dinners on the Nile in Cairo at the fish restaurant. Christal's beautiful nature and your obvious love for one another shone mightily. We look forward to a grand Cairo reunion in Heaven one day! God bless you and keep you!

What a joy to fellowship with Christal in Maadi, Cairo. She offered wonderful hospitality for our womens Bible study and was always ready to love and serve. Sharing in her sweet spirit through her struggle with cancer was a wonderful example of "giving thanks in all things.". Our deepest condolences and prayers are with you and the family,Burt. 🦋
Christal was Christ like , always a big smile and ever caring. She will be surely be missed by many people. Burt, you were so attendant to Christals needs the last couple of months that I have to commend the support you gave to her. Christal's church service was very moving and angelic, I will always remember it. We all know she is in a better place without pain.
☮️💟✝️We have loved Christal since we first met. Met at church, in Life Group together for yearscommon bond: our love for Jesus!!! After Christals first bout with breast cancer, we went on an adventure togetherlunch at Meijer Gardens & the Butterfly Exhibit. Over lunch we learned we were from the same erathe Beatles, Woodstock, etc. We had not spent time together one-on-one until that day & it was enchanting!!! It is such a cherished memory, as we really connectedas wives, as momswe spoke of our girlhood & growing up yearsour college daysthe jobs we both had& most importantly, our Faith. That day will always be a "stand out" for me & I hope it was for Christal, too. Will miss her greetings of, "Hi, Sweetie", every time we came face to faceand those giant hugs!!! We are praying comfort and peace for you Burt as you grieve the love of your life, dear Christal. We have many happy memories of our time spent in Egypt with you two. Truly she lived life to the fullest. She is free and using her beautiful voice to praise and glorify our dear Lord now. We look forward to the day we join her in eternity.
I remember Christal from our time in Egypt especially well from coming over for dinner or to visit. Once Christal told me about her restaurant in Niwot or somewhere around there, an area I knew from my years in Boulder. She clearly loved caring for people and sharing her love through food. During my time in Egypt, I was as always alone and existing my mercenary existence. Christal especially picked up on this and made every effort to be a nurturing caregiver and friend, and it really touched me. Upon returning to the US, I made a point of stopping by to see Burt and Christal while traveling through Michigan. Christal had just finished chemotherapy, and she was clearly thrilled at the prospect of getting past her illness and on to the next chapter with Burt. I was very happy for the both of them, and Ive been equally heartbroken for them both as it became clear that once again, God had another plan for their story. The thing that always struck me most about Christal and Burt is how completely committed and joyous they both were in each others presence. They were one of the most touching couples Ive ever had the privilege of being around, and if ever I manage to get luckier in the love department, theirs is the kind of relationship I aspire to have.
I am thankful to have known Christal. She was a woman who believed in the power of prayer and was faithful to pray for others. I am confident that she is in the arms of her Master the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray for peace for Burt and her children and all those who loved her and will miss her.
