Christal Elisabeth Jackson's Obituary
Christal Jackson, age 66, passed away at home on Saturday, July 21, 2018. She was born May 11, 1952, in Orlando, Florida, to James William "Bill" Hyatt and his wife Ramona Snow Hyatt (Roth). Her name at birth was Leslie Elisabeth Hyatt. She had her first name legally changed from Leslie to Christal, as it meant Christ-like, as she was a dedicated believer, disciple and follower of Jesus Christ. She graduated from Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida, and attended the University of Central Florida for two years, including duty as a fraternity sweetheart. She was a ballet dancer and enjoyed riding her horse, Bubbles. She loved music of all kinds and was a coffee-house folk singer as well as singing many years in church choirs and other chorales, including the White Lake Chorale. She loved playing her piano. She had many jobs and occupations, including installing saunas in Colorado, managing Denny's Restaurants in Georgia and Florida, and serving as a cook on a commercial shrimp boat based out of Brunswick, Georgia. She was part owner and ran a restaurant in Colorado, and she loved to entertain at home and cook delicious meals for family and friends. Christal and Burt were blessed to be able to travel internationally and live in Cairo, Egypt for over 8 years, as well as shorter times in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Torrox Costa, Spain. Christal loved the Lord Jesus and there are many souls in heaven today because of her ministry and Christian witness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ramona, her father, Bill, and her step-father, John Gilbert Hines. Survivors are her husband of 31 and a half years, Charles Burton "Burt" Jackson, her brother Phillip Baker Hyatt and his wife, Tracey Hyatt, her children, Daniel Isaac Thomas and David Aaron Thomas, her daughters-in-law Brandy Thomas (Ruel), Jill Thomas (Ovik) and Carrie Thomas (Duncan), her step-children Steven Douglas Jackson and his wife Denise Jackson (Chesnutt), Deborah "Debby" Ann Moore and her husband Ryan Timothy Moore. She dearly loved her grandchildren, Mary Ashtyn Elisabeth Thomas, Jamie Abagail Thomas, Audrey Madeline Jackson, Ian Robert Moore, Ellis Henry Moore, Dakota James Cripe and his wife Jerrilynne Renae Cripe, Sara Marie Anes and her fiancé Justin David Lutz, Cassandra Jean Anes, Andrew Hyatt, Molly Hyatt, Emily Hyatt and Bradley Hyatt, and her great-grandsons Jackson David Daniel Lutz and Roman Xavier Cripe. She was active in DeColores EnCristo and in the White Lake Eagles, where she was a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary. Christal and Burt attended and were members of Evangelical Covenant Church of Whitehall. Visitation will be at Evangelical Covenant Church, 900 South Warner, Whitehall, Michigan, Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 11:00 AM to 12:00, with services to be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.
