Aunt Nancy was the matriarch of this family. She was the head of the family and at the same time its heart. She was always the perfect example of loving caring and serving. As an example of a perfect Christian she never stopped helping others. It seemed not matter how much she did for others her cup of love was never empty. She was always was volunteering and offering herself in love and service to everyone.
Besides my my own mother, Aunt Nancy is one of those people who are deep in my earliest memories.
I can't remember a time when, she wasn't present in my life. She was always visiting or we were visiting her home. She was like a big sister to my mother and I know my mother appreciated and counted on her always.
Too many family reunions and celebrations run through my mind and there always was Nancy organizing, running, directing.
And she wasn't content to love on the family her own age. She was always focused on loving the next generation of children. Babysitting, counseling and providing encouragement to all. Never asking for recognition for her efforts.
It wasn't until she passed that my own daughter Elena shared that Nancy had friended her on Facebook and was sending her encouraging messages several times a week. Nancy did these things quietly and joyfully, always keeping the attention on others and not herself.
A person like her is one in a million and we will not ever be able to replace her.
